EDI & CULTURE CONFERENCE 2024
Equality, diversity, inclusion and culture conference (EDI & Culture Conference) 2024
Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th December 2024
(11 am - 2 pm)
School of Clinical Medicine, Cambridge Biomedical Campus
Conference goals
The School’s annual EDI and Culture conference is an opportunity for protected time to discuss matters related to EDI and culture, including research culture. We will share best practice and discuss barriers, challenges and their solutions. There will also be time to network with people from across the School and find out about their experiences in this area.
The motto of the Conference and the School’s general approach is that “EDI is everyone’s business”, so please come and be part of it and have your say!
All are welcome to attend whether you are a student, apprentice or staff member on any type of contract.
Conference schedule
Following feedback from the 2023 conference, the 2024 conference will be split into two shorter days, rather than a single full day. This change was suggested to allow more colleagues the opportunity to attend, make sessions more accessible, and ensure events are scheduled early enough for those with childcare responsibilities. You are welcome to attend as much or as little as you are able. Please see the conference programme page for the full schedule.
Conference Organisers
This event is organised by the school's Equality Champion Network and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Governance Group, who are committed to promoting EDI throughout our institution. We recognise the imperative need for focused time to discuss, collaborate, and innovate in the field of EDI and culture, including its impact on research culture. This conference is an embodiment of that recognition.
This conference is not just about listening, but about sharing; we encourage participants to share best practices, discuss barriers and challenges, and collaborate on possible solutions.
We believe that networking is a key component of fostering a positive EDI culture. Therefore, we extend this invitation to individuals from across the School, the Biomedical Campus, and the University, eager to share their experiences in this area.
Together, we aim to foster a supportive environment that not only addresses the current state of EDI but also stimulates thought-provoking conversation on how we can collectively enhance the EDI culture within our institution. We look forward to your participation in this important event.
